Refurbed alloys - how do they do it?

I'm off work now for 2 weeks and have time to muse....

My new pride and joy had the alloys refurbed. They look like new. How do you make the gouges disappear? :?

They grind flat then use chemical metal to build up and re flatten. I did it on a set of terrible condition alloys for the wife beetle cabriolet. Was very satisfying. The only issue with doing it at home is getting the lacquer hard enough without adequate heat.

A friend of mine has his own powder coating business so I gave him my zed wheels to do :)
The powder itself is self levelling to a degree & will cover up small dings pretty well

The powder is electrostaticly applied which means it's attracted to the (earthed) object being sprayed and gets to blind spots easier, it's then baked on in an oven where the powder melts & flows

I used to powder coat myself years ago but only boring stuff like double glazing extrusions.
