Hi
iv'e currently got a tatty (previous owner :x ) set of 107s alloys on my z4 and wanna get them sorted out i got a quote from the wheel specialist at 300 pound for them refurbished in a satin black which i think will look pretty cool.

The problem is i quite like the idea of a set of 18" M5 replicas which are about 450

what do you guys think?

you have just opened a can of worms. people with replica's will probably suggest just that (like me). However some of the 'purists' on here think having replicas is like sticking an M badge to a 316 compact !. If you do go for replicas just be careful which ones you buy. Some of them on ebay may seem really cheap but the quality can be a bit lacking. Do you have pictures of the ones you are planning to get ?

Hi
thanks for the reply yeah ive seen a few other threads and have been wondering what they are like.
I also will be changing to non rfts as well

pics are here

know any good places to get them from?

thanks

That link to be honest mate, with tyres, that looks too cheap! IIRC decent tyres are around £100 each and I'd be expecting to pay at least that per wheel (new).

Unlike some, I don't have any objection to reps, in fact I was considering them. But, they need to be decent... I'm not sure how long cheaper ones would last either. For the style of wheel on that link I'd be tempted by some original MV2s, although you would then also need tyres.

My favorite Z4 wheels, I think, are the 107 / 202s... get the refurb and some non-RFTs. Well, that's what I'd be doing in your position.

But yes, what RichardG said!

EDIT: Keep an eye on this lot:

i would also watch out for who you buy from on ebay. a guy (cant remember who but im sure they will be along soon) on here had quite a bit of trouble with a company that is trading under a few different names.

thats not to say all sellers are rubbish, i would make sure you only buy through ebay, via paypal and on a credit card for maximum security. dont ring and pay over the phone.

oh and i sit on the fence, custom OEM is cool (thats what i have) but reps can be ok depending on quality. get what you feel is right, its your car

As I have just said in the post about 19's, get what makes you happy.

This man speaks sense. Not sure I like the idea of 107s in satin black myself but that's just plain boring me...

Anything for that price will definetly be sh!t.

Either refurb yours or be prepared to pay around 1k+ for some new decent rims and tyres. Personally if i were you I would be patient and keep an eye out for a used set on the Buy & Sell section in this forum... That's what I did.

if you go on the wheel specialist website and get a quote, either reject it or leave it for a week or so they always email offering an additional 20% off

ive rang the refurb place and they said they can do it for 260 which is not bad

are bmautosport any good?

BMAutosport are a compnay based in Eastbourne (just down the road from me) I went and spoke to Mark there early last year when I was thinking of changing to some M6 or CSL reps.

Certainly the wheels I was looking at were all made in Germany, and I believe the quality is much better than some of those found on ebay.

End of the day I would suggest you give Mark a ring and discuss your requirements.

They have been around for a fews years, which has to say something.
