After repeatedly deferring, the time to sell my beloved Zed has finally come. My wife is due to give us our first child in 3 weeks and I'm now under orders!
Available at £3750 (now reduced to £3350 given market conditions - no offers please!), which I think is a more than fair price, but please read the ad in full.
Car history:
First registered in June 2003
Bought by me in Feb 2014 with 52k on the clock from someone who had had it since December 2003 (he was the second owner - I am the third)
Good points:
* Drives perfectly
* Full BMW main dealer service history (all at Hexagon/Spire of Highgate - same place but changed name along the way) - recently some additional work done at D&T Wise BMW specialists in Bexleyheath
* Had an entire new cooling system put in by Spire at 51k miles
* Had its belt and pulleys replaced in June at 58k
* Last service (Inspection 1) was in April at 57k miles
* MOT (clean) until July 2016
* 2 keys
* New rear tyres in Feb (all 4 the usual Bridgestone run flats)
* Cruise control (retrofitted by yours truly)
* Heated seats
* PDC
* Aux-in (aftermarket non BMW which I put in, but works perfectly)
Bad points:
* 16" alloys - really poor condition (get some refurbed 108s for summer and think of these as a winter set?)
* Bumper could do with a respray - one quite noticeable mark, one low scuff
* Some marks on the left side skirt
* Brake pedal occasionally has a slightly "ratchety" feel in the cold when you take your foot off it after braking - been like that since I've had the car and doesn't cause any noticeable impact on braking performance - the mechanics (Spire and D&T Wise) I asked weren't concerned by it
* Windscreen has a few scratches following the wiper arcs - nothing too major but I do notice them when it's wet and dark (oncoming headlights)
* Wipers have a habit of bouncing / running in continuous when only intermittent is requested (despite cleaning the greasy gunk off the wiper motor contacts which often fixes this common issue) - may or may not bother you depending on your level of perfectionism - also probably needs new wipers
* Alarm has a habit of going off occasionally in the middle of the night when it's very very cold if you don't deactivate the IR sensor (press the lock button on the key again after locking) - has happened maybe twice this year and never with the sensor deactivated
* Seat bolster is kinda worn
* Headlights could do with a polish
* A bit of wind noise at 75mph+ from the passenger window - should be adjustable I think - obviously you will only ever notice this on the track or when overtaking above the limit strictly for safety reasons
Additonal points:
Will throw in:
* The "gimp-style" wind deflector
* Whatever renovo roof cleaner/reviver/proofer I have left (was recently cleaned and proofed)
* A 3M headlight polishing kit (never got round to using it)
* Some new headlight bulbs (was going to install them when I got round to polishing!)
* The "Ultimate Cup Holders" - these are awesome
Car is located in Wanstead, E11. Am looking to close the sale within the next two weeks, ideally next weekend.
I guess this doesn't read like most ads, but I do like the idea of full disclosure and ideally the car going to an enthusiast (although I know that the auto box and tiny wheels may put many off). Hope that people think the price is fair - to get the car into really top-nick condition would be maybe £600 which would still leave you with change vs what's advertised elsewhere, and I doubt that those ads are quite as honest as this one hopes to be or the cars entirely free from need of investment either.
Pictures and tyre depths to follow tomorrow, and feel free to ask any questions /make comments on the thread.
Charlie
p.s. thanks for being a great online community - I've hardly been prolific posting since I joined, but it's been one hell of an encyclopedia on all things Z4 and I loved the one meet up that I was able to get to. Will hopefully one day be in a position to get myself another.
