Hi folks! I posted about my car being up for sale soon a few weeks back, and now it is. This advert is going to be long and detailed, which reflects my ownership of the car over the last two years, and I make no apologies for that. Here goes:
The basics
3.0i model
SE specification
Official BMW Comprehensive Warranty until late November 2011, fully transferable to new owner
MOT until end of November 2011
6 month tax just put on, so it's good until the end of January 2012
August 2003 registration
63,000 miles
FULL BMW Service History
15,000 miles until next service (Oil Service carried out BMW Doncaster this month, they also did my Inspection 2 in Spring of last year. All services carried out at BMW garages and on time, of course.)
Titanium silver
SMG box (maintenance carried out, full bill of health, see details below)
I won't be like lots of buyers and list the standard 3.0i spec (electric seats, etc.) - you can google that for yourself.
Factory spec options
SMG Transmission - quite brilliant for twisty roads when in sports mode. I'm a true convert now
Xenons
Cruise control
6CD Changer and 10 speaker upgrade
Rear parking sensors
Heated electric memory seats (both, obviously)
Graduated tinted windscreen
Internal storage pack
Auto dim interior and exterior mirror
Wind deflector
Cup holders
(possible 1/2 more, will dig the spec sheet out shortly. It basically has nearly everything except nav)
Extras
The car is running original Z4M alloys (style 224)
It has a subtle aftermarket bluetooth prep. added for phones. Works great with my iPhone.
It is also running forum standard Falken FK452 tyres on both front and back
Redstuff pads on front (unbelievable bite), Brembo on rear. Both have lots of life left (you can tell from feel). Discs also good
Stubby bee sting aerial
Official BMW mudflaps (do a great job at reducing stone pick up and aid the lines of the car, IMHO)
The good/bad/ugly/extras/common issues addressed
- The car has been pampered throughout its whole life. I've got an entire folder of previous service records, maintenance bits, bills for tyres, old tax discs showing mileage, etc.
- You will struggle to find to find an 03 car in better condition, as can be verified by Z4F members from meets.
- The seatbelt control unit has been replaced by BMW (common fault, about £700 to fix if you don't get a car with it done) in Spring 2010
- The SMG gearbox has had both of its internal gear selection sensors replaced and has been given a full bill of health by BMW Doncaster (July 2011)
- At the same time the clutch was replaced (July 2011)
- Rear tyres were replaced 5/6k ago and have LOTS of life left. Last pair lasted me 16k and were replaced well above the legal limit (Autumn 2010)
- Car is fully set up with the correct geo/alignment (Christmas 2010)
- Bushes and arms were done (common Z4/e46 fault) at the same time (Christmas 2010)
- Headlight washer unit and covering flap were replaced with OEM items (Spring 2011). Common fault where they freeze, expand and drop out, search the forum
- Zero issues experienced with roof motor and drainholes checked. If it should fail it's covered under your BMW Warranty anyway!
- Washed, wax, polished and loved with ludicrously expensive products on a regular basis (I have a washing basket full of bottles and potions which has cost me quite literally hundreds of pounds)
- Roof given regular cleans and preventative treatments as you'll be able to see by the condition
- I have a few bits and pieces I can throw in with the sale (bit of Castrol for top ups, old aerial, roof treatment kit etc.)
- Front tyres need replacing. I may do this for you, depending on your offer.
- The covering flap on the headlight washer unit (approx 1.5-2" sq.) has not yet been painted since replacement, simply due to time. Obviously, this is a very small job. I had a quote for (quite literally) a few quid to paint it, I just haven't been and done it yet. If you can't be bothered to take it somewhere to get it done than a pre-painted one from BMW is approximately £25 (look on realoem.com). This won't affect the price as it's so minor.
- Yes, it has the odd small stone chip, wheel scuff and mild bolster wear, but considering the age and mileage the overall condition is outstanding. Leather regularly waxed, hood treated, polished to within an inch of its life (!). Any viewing, official mechanic inspection etc. welcomed and encouraged - this is a proud car.
Conclusion
One or two very minor issues aside, this is one of the best cars of its age and condition in the country, quite simply. Compare it to what it's up against HERE. Most of these cars have dreadful poverty spec wheels, 20k more miles than mine, or are described as 'TOP SPEC!!111' when they have the standard 3.0i spec and barely anything more. Seriously, some of them are advertising the fact it has an alarm as part of their selling pitch. Unbelievable! Therefore I price mine very reasonably and realistically at - NOW REDUCED TO £7,649 ONO. Please consider the fact the wheels (£500) and Warranty (£300-400) add significant value to the car when making an offer and make it a much more attractive proposition than other similar cars. No PX unless you're trading down from an M.
I am happy to answer any and all questions about the car and its history, etc. It's available to view in Scunthorpe (DN17) or Doncaster (DN3) all week. Pretty confident that the first to make the trip will buy it.
