Red Zeds

I was reading the thread about trying to track down a red Zed in Aberdeenshire and it got me wondering.
I know there are some lovely examples of red (Hellrot) Zeds on the forum (Coupes, Alpinas, and I think a 2.0 or 2.5 E85), but am I the only one with a red 3.0si roadster on here?
In fact, I can't recall seeing another one, either out and about or for sale anywhere since I bought mine.

Happy to be shown some others if they are out there :)

Red '06 2.5si in the very next cul de sac to me (Westbury, Wiltshire)

Nice colour, certainly don't see many of them about

Good - but not a 3.0si, so no prize :D

Marlon when I was looking for my 1st z4 wanted a red 3.0si. Looked for 2 years the only one that I found was the coupe I bought. Never seen a other 3.0si vert for sale. You must feel SPECIAL

Yep :)

The E89's look good in red, but I think it's Melbourne Red - slightly darker the Hellrot I think?

I have a BMW brochure for the Z4 E85/E86 (around 2006) and it says metallic paint was a no-cost option for a 3 litre.

That may go a long way to explain why there are very limited numbers of 3 litre Z4s in Bright Red, Jet Black or Alpine White! (Given they are all non-metallic)!

I know yours is a Roadster, but Taz's Coupe details suggest there were only 6 out of 297 SEs and 32 out of 1,906 Sports in that colour in the UK so it must be a rare colour - rarer by far than my former Ruby Black Individual (although that started life as a pre-reg so they would pay the extra £700 or so for Individual)!

Makes my 300+ Montego blue Sport Coupe look almost common, but I like it!

Yes mine is Melbourne red, much prefer the bright red on my old coupe but sadly not available

Thanks for that info. Mr Tidy - it's making more sense now why I've never seen another like mine.
Cheers

I saw the same numbers (6 SE + 32 Sport) & thought they were for coupe's only? I could be wrong of course. I seem the think that b/c my coupe is one of the 6 SE's (even though it's got all the sport accoutrement now).

Cheers

KERMIT1970 The lower part of the rear bumper looks black on that pic - did you get that done? Nice pic btw, gotta love a hellrot coupe :)

We have very similar cars - mine is an SE too as you know, and I've gone some way towards the 'sport' additions such as the M seats, plus I swapped my M sports alloys onto it.
I will keep the SE suspension though as I prefer it to the harder sports suspension.
I had my steering wheel refurbished with Royal Wheels, but I still hanker after the M sports steering wheel - problem is they are expensive new, and second hand wheels often look a bit worn. Did you retro-fit an M sports wheel?

Hi Stuart yes I had wrapped the front & rear bumpers with carbon on my e86. Also done my e89 in gloss black. Just to add my touch onto my cars. Think it adds some dimension to the bumpers.

The ///M wheel was retro fitted by previous owner JaRed (along with cruise) & it is *lovely*
The electric sports seats were specified from new.
I swapped to sports springs because I like a firmer ride and I got a good deal on a full nearly-new set (cheaper than the one SE spring I would've had to replace).
Being an SE originally I have a lighter roof lining in mine which gives a nice spacious feel.
Just the zhp knob to do now :)

Thanks for the extra pictures - the rear looks epic & I might have to steal that idea.
