RED STUFF front pads? Any Good??

Bored with the chore of cleaning the black dust off my ellipsoids, I am considering a set of RED STUFF ceramic compound front brake pads. I was wondering if anyone has tried a set of these as the brake fade is meant to reduce significantly and the liberation of brake dust is supposed to be suppressed due to the ceramic content as opposed to steel particles. Are they worth a £70 punt? Thanks in anticipation.

I had some in my celica and agree with Animal... they are crap when cold... were noisy on grooved disks and produced as much dust as stock.

for a road car and if you really must go with EBC i would stick with green stuff pads.

I had mintex pads on my S2K and they produced much less dust then the stock honda pads.

Some like them but I think they are too hard, perform poorly while cold and squeal
I use Greenstuff despite the fact they are rated only to 200ish hp as the car is so light. Have used many sets now on X5 and Z4.
Very low dust on greenstuff

yes, I had the greenstuffs (with turbogroove discs.. and goodridge hoses.. and Motul RBF660 b.fluid) in Barchetta - quite good:
slightly less effective when cold
- way better than oem while in working temperature
- dramatically non-effective when overheated - although never been able to overheat them on public road
- small amount of dust, and its not black, rather grey-yellowish

the redstuff has higher working temp and higher overheat temp, but its a little too much for a daily drives (esp short distanced) on public roads

I use StopTech PosiQuiet ceramics . Great product, highly recommended

How's the dust on these and what color is it ? Like everyone else, I am tired of cleaning the wheels every weekend.

I used EBC Red on my 350z when I put new discs & Pads on.

I actually ordered GreenStuff but they rang me up (brakes4u) and told me they thought the Greens weren't up to the job due to the 350z's weight & power (1535Kg/297 BHP) and strongly recommended Red.

They were good, didn't squeal, less dusty than OEM I thought. IIRC the Z4 roadster is about 1490Kg.

HTH

I have reds on mine.

Only one brake squeals. Less dust than standard. Its needs 2-3 more braking taps to warm up in winter, but I doubt I'd have even realised if someone hadnt of told me.

Overall I dont see any problems with them. End of the day, our cars will stop quicker than a normal car in emergency braking, whatever you use. So we'll just get rear ended :(

Very low level of dust. Light grey color.

I've got reds as well with Ultimax discs.

A lot less brake dust the OEM, plus any dust seems to wash off a lot easier.

No squeal on mine and havent noticed any reducing in braking in cold.

the red stuff pads that i had on my last car were rubbish when cold  no dust thou

Reds on mine, with ultimax discs…

I think they changed the formula beginning of last year (ish) to reduce the crappiness when cold. I've never had a problem with mine, even in the depths of winter.

That said, mine rattle something chronic, only noticeable with the top down but irritating.

Sorry to bring up an oldish thread;

I have a BMW warranty, will fitting non OEM pads void it?

Performance of OEM is fine for me, but the less dusting from Greenstuff seems the way to go..
