Red Rear Lights

I wanted to change my lights at thr rear to red but they are too expensive, talking around £500. I have opted for the full clear lights, inc third brake light and indicators.

Does anybody have any idea what bulbs I need, I have heard silver are required fo rthe indicators?

Can I just ask that anyone who's done this could post up links to the exact film and bulbs they're using?

I've recently acquired a set of rear lights from another forum member but the indicators shine VERY red - they're standard rear lights that've had red film (unknown brand) stuck over the amber indicators only. I've coloured the bulbs in green using a green permanent marker (seriously - it works!) and the bulb itself now shines VERY green, but it's not enough to shine orange through the lens.

I'm going to remove the film and start from afresh, hence looking for ideas for film and bulb products. Any help much appreciated :)

guys - ditto on a11y's comments - any links to film and bulbs would be really helpful.

Allowed the missus to drive the zed at the weekend and I followed in her daily (not to keep an eye ...we had met to go out straight from work! ) ... but I noticed straight away that the indicators a basically red - no hint of orange !! so in my book its not going to pass an MOT.... so got to sort it.

many thanks for any info

I ordered Etech red tint spray and some spray lacquer at the weekend. Still unsure this will work properly, i.e. show as amber light through red/amber lens, but my plan is to apply a single thin coat at a time and test as I go. I might not achieve a full-on red light appearance, but it should tone down the amber appearance of the lens.

Will report back once done :!:

I'd read the Lamin-x website too but decided against it based on that exact bit of info - suggests to me that there could be issues with the visible light not being orange enough. I guess they mean to use very powerful green LEDs but hard to know for sure. If you fancy giving it a go I'd be keen to hear how you get on.

At least with red tint spray I can apply as much or as little red colour as I want - hopefully should get a balance between red lenses for appearance, and orange visible light for legalities.
