i think that it indicates that the roof is not in the fully down position.

It's almost certainly a dumb question but are you holding it for long enough?

Or, possibly, the car may have an aftermarket device fitted (eg Gaptech - great bit of kit) that 'holds' the button for you that has got a bad connection.

Just a couple thoughts. Along with why are you asking this when it's -5 outside??? I mean i like soft top motoring as much as the next nutter but it is SERIOUSLY chilly this morning!

When in the fully down position, it should secure itself just between the roll bars, check that it has, because it's the sensor there that tells if the roof is fully open

Hi guys, yes its minus but the sun is shining lol. Yes i hold the button down untill the windows also go up and down.....
It seems to off only done it since i had the roof motor replaced at BMW nottingham....also the motor seems incredibly loud at the final closing stage of the movement....any suggestions?

Pussy :poke:

I had this problem on my first Z - I had to reach back and push the roof down to engage the locking mechanism, then the light went out. Most annoying. Does the edge of roof look like it's sitting up too far when it's down ?

EDIT - seen your latest post, take it back. Sounds like the motor isn't powerful enough to pull it down far enough, so perhaps air in the hydraulics ?

No way they can fob you off or charge you for sorting this though is there. I don't know what replacing the motor disturbs but I do know, from a very early problem I had with the windscreen clamps failing to engage (rectified by simple lubrication), that apparently all the adjustment to the hood is in the rear of the frame mechanism, so maybe they just need to adjust clearances to get the sensor working.

took it down this morning at 8....tried to charge me £90 for a diagnostic....told them it was work to be carried out on a job they had already done...oh and my curtacy car is a bright red mini..not likeing it very much
