Red leather

It would seem i have been looking at bmw's to long as I've started to like red leather. This was the first one I saw and I was not impressed with the colour of the seats.

And today I fell in love while visiting stratstone Nottingham and this car was nice as well. I was looking at a silver one in Derby and thought it would be rude not to look at the White one in Nottingham and the black ones at stratstone. I thought I would like the one with the beige interior but I didn't even bring myself to get in. But this black one was superb. The leather was described to me as coral red.

How many different colour Reds were fitted in the z4? Any ideas what the red leather in the se would be?
Considering I don't want a black car or a red interior, I could love this car.

Black and red — gorgeous combination.

The e85/86s had dream red leather – which is what those will be. The Ms have imola red leather which is a bit darker, or more matte. You could also get amarone leather, not described as red but it is a very deep, kind of dark tan red colour. Rare and very, very nice.

Coral red is an e89 leather colour, which is probably a lack of knowledge on the part of the sales staff - but these cars have bee out of production a fair while so I wouldn't hold it against them

Red leather looks even better in a roadster :D

Are there other things that affect the look of the leather if it's the same colour, because the black car's leather was a more tasteful colour and it did look more matt?

Well, all leather seats start out matte pretty much - so th exact that one has 35k miles (black) and the other has 115k miles (silver) will have a marked effect on the condition of the leather. The latter will be more worn = more shiny. Also, it depends how it has been looked after - if it's just been cleaned then it will be in a lesser condition to leather that's been cleaned and then 'fed' with leather cream, like the two part auto glym set you can buy. The latter will help retain the matte look. My car has 38k miles on it and has been treated that way so the seats are still very matte.

The silver car also has standard sports seats, which I think were a different leather to the M sport seats in the black one (which would be Oregon leather). I think that may make the colour look less bright than the standard leather. The M seats are different again, Nappa leather.

A good way of telling how the seats have been looked after are the drivers' right hand bolsters on the back and base - they ALL get worn, but if care has been taken then there should be no cracking of the leather.

If I had a choice I would be going with fabric seats so having leather is just something I have to get used to, looks like red is off my shopping list again as i doudt i will be getting a car with less than 50k on it.
Thanks for info and care instructions.

Lots of cars over 50k will have good leather, just keep an open mind. Fabric seats are pretty rare, and only came on very poorly spec'd cars. You'll get used to leather very quickly - I hate driving a car without it now

One other thing, don't discount on photos. The red always looks way brighter than it is, as you'll have discovered.

Good luck

You know what, I never even twigged the price of either of them, as for once the price wasn't the question

lol bloody big price diff between the 2.

I paid just over 9k for mine with 59k on clock. Sat Nav, Xenons, Msport Seat/Suspension. Ok few stone chips n that but generally good condition.

Only thing i would have preferred was a darker colour car (silver) wasnt my first choice

It was parked next to an M but I resisted trying that, both in carbon black with red interior's, nearly as gorgeous as the receptionist.
The salesman took me on a fantastic route, it didn't feel as fast as its specs say but I did enjoy it and I definately want one.
As for price they are both overpriced, but I could understand somebody buying the black one.

What's the difference between New England and Oregon and has anybody seen a z4 coupe with fabric interior, im guessing there were a few convertibles with it.

I have the same, what colour is the red on these individual seats as mine is showing a patch of wear and want to get it fixed.

I used to have the same colour in my coupe. Believe it's bi colour, imola & anthracite.

Thanks, on this linkhttp://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/BMW_Leather_Colour_Chart.php there are two Imola Reds , is it the top or bottom one?!
