Red leather gear and handbreak gaiters - *UPDATED*

That looks great swiftly

Think I will be doing this when I get a chance...
Thanks Bing, tell Mrs Bing she was right about the red stiched hand break cover!

Also I forgot I had some Dream Red LiquidLeather in my cupboard. I had bought the stuff for when my seat bolsters required attention. I have taken the gaiters off and have given them two coats of the stuff. Managed to get a near perfect match by adding some darker red toner, certainly has taken it down and darkened it a few shades. I doubt I will ever get a perfect match but that’s the trade off, but I think they will be close enough when in situ and viewed in natural light. I will take some photos once I have re fitted and conditioned the leather them tomorrow.

That looks real nice! :D
Good work. Really completes the interior with them being the same colour.

Top job!

Photo of the red gaitors after having a couple of coats of LiquidLeather dye applied to them yesterday. I then left them to dry 24 hours brfore finishing off with a coat of leather conditioner. I am very pleased with the match and I think they are about as close as I am going to get them. :D

Does look very nice .. would look even better with piano black trim though :poke:

I know, would love piano black trim if I could find a set in good condition and at the right price. I keep looking on fleabay but the only set they had recently was over priced considering the poor condition that the trim was in.

That is perfect swiftly - great job

I now need to do this...

Would you recommend doing the liquid leather treatment before fitting, and by a couple I guess you mean two coats ?

That looks nicely matched now, great job! My own red gaiter boot isn't a closer match than yours has turned out.

It would be easier to do before fitting mate, especially the handbreak gaitor. I applied 2 coats, but make sure the first coat is dry before applying the second coat or it can go streaky, as I found out. I had to quickly wipe it all off and start all over again. :headbang: My second attempt was better :D with the desired results being achieved. I then let the dye dry and cure for 24 hours before applying a coat of Liquid Leather conditioner before fixing.

Just rebooked at the photos the rest of your interior looks smashing what are you using on the plastics?

Tried a few cleaners, finally settled with Auto Glym Vinyl & Rubber Care. Easy to apply, minimum effort required to achieve the desired look

what glue did you use to secure the handbrake gaitor? my black with red stitching has turned up. gear one was easy as you say. just the handbreak one to do now. :(

Looks fantastic Swiftly !
I have red covers to fit on my zed, need to get the finger oot ! Don't know what it will look like with black seats. My 3 has red seats with black gaiters so should be ok. Will try & sort this weekend.

I used a tube of Evo-Stik instant contact adhesive, it was just what the job needed.
