Red cars & red leather and fading

Do modern BMW red paints and red leather fade like the bad old days? My cars spend most of the time outdoors as I use them daily and wondering what something like an imola red exterior or imola red interior would be like in a few years...

i have a 53 plate and the red leather on it looks in perfect condition, spotless.

i do use conditioner on it when i clean the car juust to maintain it. couldnt help you on the paint front though

I also have red leather on a late 2003 model z4, looks immaculate. as for the paint on newer models, i cant comment, i suppose time will tell if they are any better than the older 'now pink' looking cars.

I imagine that if you look after the paintwork it should hold it's colour pretty well. I can't remember seeing any pink/former-Rosso-Corsa 348's or Testarossa's.

That's probably because most Rosso-Corsa 348's or Testarossa's spend 90% of their life in a heated garage!

I am not sure about BMW paints, since I have limited experience with them, but my 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck with 175K miles, has spent every day of it's life outside and the paint has not faded at all.... of course I used to wash it once a week, wax every month, just like the Zed..

Actually, I would not be too concerned about that color now. Paints have taken giant leaps forward in the last 15 years...

my neighbour has a red T reg (1998/1999) Focus which has definitely faded...

Just needs a machine polish to remove the oxidation, sounds like its a solid colour with no clearcoat.
