Cool...

I would kill for a job in F1 design.... as I imagine most other people would too!

Quite like the carbon fibre tool tray at 2:50!

My son-in-law who has his own flow solutions company does consultancy design work for Red Bull in Milton Keynes. He previously told me that Adrian Newey doesn't use a computer for his conceptual design, as briefly seen at the start of the video, preferring old school drawing board, pencils and his precious French curves.

The reality is not very glamourous. Red Bull are hard task masters and if your are directly employed you are expected to be married to the company. Fine if you are single but difficult if you are a family man.

I would much rather work for Mclaren, the HQ is to die for. In some ways it must be a very rewarding career. The development aspect I would love, designing a part, getting a sample it manufactured and being able to simulate the effect in a wind tunnel, if there is an improvement get one made in CF and then fit it to the car, if it stays on then you are happy.

One of my employees brothers worked for a top F1 team as a mechanic.
He was single remained so and although he went to many great locations he rarely saw any motosport, often worked through the night fixing and repairing, grabbed food to keep going and then on a plane to the next location.

He said life was hell and the exact opposite of what people percieve with relentless pressure of travel, work, etc. and always 'free' to leave with dozens ready to step in.

Good news was I went to loads of test sessions and race days as an invitee of his before he jacked it in for a house, partner and proper job :)
