Red battery light

Hi all

The red battery light came on in my 2003 3.0 last week. I pulled over and the alternator belt looked fine. I drove home with no symptoms other than the red light. It was very wet with puddles on the road so suspected that may have contributed to the light coming on

The next day the light was off and stayed off for the journey. I have not driven the car for a week and started it up today and the light is on again

I checked the voltage with car off and the battery reads 12.4v. When running it is 14.0v so I guess the alternator is working

Possibly the battery is on the way out? Not sure how old it is as I've only have the car a few months

I would appreciate thoughts on this?

Maybe an intermittent problem with the Alternator, was the light on when you got the 14volts ?

Try and borrow a 'new' one to eliminate that it is NOT the existing battery on the way out..
I.e. If light comes on with borrowed good battery then u have some digging to do....
Always good policy to swap in a new'un if.u Dont know how old it is
