Recreating service booklet

Im trying to recreate the service history for my Zed. Basically somewhere my service book has got lost. Either the dealer or me in the first couple of days. lots of boxes, bin bags etc around the house as a lot of work being done. Anyway ive managed to track down 2 of the garages that did services on my 54 plate so far. One was done at Stratstone BMW who are going to send out a new book stamped for the service they did. The other was done at Geman Auto in Derby. Can you guys give me the names of any BMW service specialists in the area that i could contact to try and build the full history again. im a complete plank for needing to do this but i have to give it a crack!

Thanks in advance.

Ths might be of interest if you believe any of the servicing was done at a main dealer. They can't tell you what work was done, but can tell you dates and dealerships so you can then call the relevant dealer.

Should you wish to obtain details of a vehicle's specification, or information on the visits to a dealership of a particular vehicle, this is only available by calling our dedicated team on: 0906 209 0001 (Calls are charged at £1 per minute). Lines are open 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Calls may be recorded for training purposes.

Thanks for that, i had that down to call in the morning. I believe the first few were done at BMW service centers, then the first owner sold it at about 30k miles after its first inspection 2 which is the one done at Stratstone. Im hoping that the first inspection 1 and oil services were both done at another BMW service center as this will be easy to sort out too. After that the second owner, whos name and adress i now have must have switched to private as i have an invoice from German Auto for an oil service. Il try and contact the previous owner but wanted to send out a blanket email to Derby BMW service specialists in case i struck lucky in the mean time. Bit of a faff, any info would be amazing guys.

:( Pretty much. Its the one thing, bar the car itself, you really do not want to lose. Ive literally taken the house apart looking for it.

You'll know what will happen once you get all the service history together the original will turn up :D

No doubt, but im on my way to getting it sorted. Just wish id fully looked at it and remembered the names of the garages used!! Cant even remember the name of the original dealer. Once/if i get it fully sorted im going to take copies, photos, scans and leave copies on home computer, at work, parents house and anywhere else i can think of to avoid this happening again.

I have one stamp missing from my book, but dealer has confirmed over the phone that the brake service was done.

I'm loathed to send the book away just in case something happens to it. I did think about asking for a copy invoice instead as that would suffice I would have though to future owners.

New service book has been posted today with inspection 1 stamped in from BMW Stratstone who sold it as AUC 3 years old. Ive found the guys who did the next oil service and Inspection 2 was done by the dealer who sold it to me. Im slowly getting there!! Just need to ring the £1 a min premium line to find out which dealer did the services from new until Stratstone got hold of it and itll be looking at least mostly complete.

Again i didnt pay much attention to the book before i lost it, possibly the reason i did lose it, but do non scheduled (ie the clock doesnt say its due) oil services get stamped in the book?

Bought a 3 year old Toyota RAV4 in 1998 where guy had lost its service history, but main agent had everything on a computer printout showing when & what had been done - much better than a stamp in any book that could have been fabricated.

Surely in 2012 BMW can do the same if these are main agents...

They won't tell you when or who did any servicing, they can only tell you that the car visited dealer XYZ on any particular day, you'll then have to call those dealers and find out, but at least the calls will be cheaper.

Yea thats what i assumed. To be fair for the first 3 years im sure it would have been serviced by the dealer who sold it as new. If i can at least get most of the service history back its a massive bonus after such a stupid mistake!

Urrrggghh nightmare remember to go to the DVLA website and get a run down of all the MOT's as there stored on a database there. A lot of people get an MOT and Service at the same garage, its a great tool to use I have search cars I have wanted to buy in the past only to find the MOT history does not stack up! :)

Great idea (which I will use - been there once already)... But of course a new car doesn't require an MOT for the first 3 years right ? I think that's what the OP is now looking for... Though this will help with any remaining gaps. Going to phone the £1 a minute line for my own car - on a work phone though :P

Way ahead of you there buddy! :D First thing i did. Appears that every MOT was done in the same garage, but i have an invoice from a different Garage for an oil service seperate to the MOT that year so doesnt look like its a huge help. Havent had chance to call the garage yet but hopefully theyve done some of them, will make my life easier.

I was thinking about past 3 years should have made that clear  , I suppose a factor to consider is the miles on clock as depending how many miles were done in the first 3 years will make a big differences to the number of services ... anyways best of luck

Inspection 1 was done at 29.5k almost exactly 3 years old by Stratstone Derby. The service clock would only have had 1 oil service scheduled in that time, but as it was new arent they serviced yearly for free by the dealer? So possible 2 oil services in that time? Il see when i call them after work i guess!

Not in my experience,
Been covered countless times but,...

Oil Serivce @ approx 15K on mileage indicator depending on use OR 2 years.
Insp 1 @ approx 30K on mileage indicator depending on use OR 2 years.
Oil Serivce @ approx 45K on mileage indicator depending on use OR 2 years.
Insp 2 @ approx 60K on mileage indicator depending on use OR 2 years.

Well in that case that makes my life alot easier.

Car bought end of 04
Oil service from original dealer (hopefully) end of 05 circa 15k
Inspection 1 done by Stratstone BMW Dec 06 29,500 miles - Stamped in new book (should recieve this morning)
Oil Service, Brake fluid change done by German Auto Jan 09 45k - Contacted agreed to stamp and return book FOC)
Oil Service done by dealer before i bought it.

Just need to track down when and where Inspection 2 was done... if it was. if not i better get it done now.
