Recommended Tires

Changed run flats to Michelin Pilot Sport. Rides great, but I'm going to only get 15M miles on rear tires. Questions: can you run all 4 tires the same size so they can be rotated? And what is the best tire for increased mileage?
 
depends on what rims you have? If you have staggered rims you CAN run non staggered tyres, but then youd have to take the tyres off the rims which is a bit of a faff, say for example MV2/108s you can run 225/40/18 all round (which i have done many a time with no adverse affects) and they dont look stupid either as many cars can come with a 225 tyre on an 8.5 rim (which is the rear size of an mv2/108)

It's probably 15 MILLION miles - which is similar to what I get out of the rears on the M :poke:

Seriously though, unless you're tracking it or doing burnouts all the time, you'll probably find you get more than 20,000 miles from the rears and almost double that out of the fronts.

If that level of cost/wear scares you (i.e. about £150/tyre over 20,000 miles = 0.75p/tyre/mile) then you really won't want to calculate your fuel/maintenance costs.

As for harder wearing tyres, are you happy to reduce your ride comfort to save a few £££/$$$ - if so, go for a rock hard ditchfinder tyre and you'll only have to spend 1/2 the amount on the tyre in the first place and it might last longer - assuming you don't drive aggressively and don't expect it to perform as good as a decent mid-range or premium brand in all weathers.
