Recommended sprayers

Thinking of getting my lower half of my front bumper blown in stone chips etc anyone recommend a trusted sprayer around the Cheshire area

There is a little place in Macclesfield that I used to use years and years ago before I moved down South. The only problem is that I can't remeber the name of them. However, they were on Saville street and looking on Google this maybe them:

Macclesfield Spray & Repair Shop
Saville Street, Macclesfield, SK11 7LQ
Tel: 01625 616900

I found them as they were used by the main dealers in the area. whilst they always had a couple of old valuable classics being repaired. Did fantastic jobs on everything and my dad still uses them, very reasonable prices too.

Be very particular, my new zed has clearly had its bumper sprayed in the past - its the same colour as yours. yes it has almost no stone chips, but you can tell its not a perfect match to the rest of the car, more noticeable later in the day or night.

Same here, done, but done not perfectly...

Worth having it done really well.

Remove, rough up, fill chips, smooth off, new primer, base, and laquer... get a few coats of laquer with it being the bumper too... I rekon.

Just make sure they can match it :D

With any panel, they must blend the paint with that around - it's impossible for them to match paint perfectly. Even on a bumper, it is better for them to only spray the bits that need it and blend it in with the surrounding paint. If they just do a whole panel, it wil never match properly with those around it.

A blend would be a bit excessive, as they would have to then run the laquer right back to the top of the bonnet and ends of the front wings...
You can't stop laquer half way along a panel and 'blend' it unfortunately... the base you can of course... but then you'd want to rub back the wings to get a good key for that... it'd cost a great deal more to blend the work like that, and if they are blending because they can't match, they probably won't even do a good job of that :(

Bumpers never colour match anyway, every titanium silver z4 i've seen has a very slight shade difference between metal/plastic panels... possibly because they are sprayed seperately in the factory anyway!?
This is also visible on all the silver shades, from light to dark.

A good paint shop WILL be able to match it as close as you'd want without blending. Blending might be needed on a very old car with faded paint, or a very special finish, but a good sprayer should be able to match stuff off the car as close as you would want. If they can't, they are not very good (plenty are not) imho!
