Hi All,

We all know what happens to leather seats etc over time.
I have recently had dealings with this company based in Hull

I would recommend them highly, not just for their services and advice but also for their products.

I recently cleaned my seats with the autoglym leather kit, as soon as he saw the seats he could tell.
I then purchased their cleaner and balm, the difference is amazing and the amount of dirt that came off shows that autoglym
does a very poor job comparatively.

I spoke to a chap called Richard, mention the Z4 forum, I asked his permission to post this for you all.
 
I'm interested in leather restoration too, my seats are scuffed. I take it you bought the balm and cleaner and did the work yourself? How much was that and how long did it take to work on the seats? Did you need to remove the seats to work on them?

Sorry for the slow reply, yes I did it myself, took two hours with seats in the car. I bought the small bottles and their small wooden brush. Cannot remember the price but it is whatever they charge, not cheap but I threw an expensive pot of Autoglym leather restorer (joke) in the bin>>
 
Some leather restorers are designed to pull the dye out of the leather so it spreads around and covers cracks in the surface. I suspect you needed a leather cleaner/conditioner rather than restorer.

I have personally used Gliptone conditioner and cleaner on all my cars and it always impresses me.
 
Thanks for the advice. Since my post I used a rub-in dye as well as cleaner before hand and conditioner after. This was great, but not enough to recolour some marks and scratches on a couple of panels of the driver seat.

I went on to try a spray dye on these areas. This did cover the marks, but these panels are now glossier and a darker black than the rest of the seats.

I understand I can remove this with acetone, I’m living with it for now to see whether it bothers me or wears in.
 
You could get them professionally restored and re-coloured by John at Bespoke Leathering in Birmingham http://bespokeleathering.com/

He does a really excellent job and is a nice guy too. You might be surprised but it does cost too much either and from my experience his turnaround is very fast as well.

You can see a couple of examples work he has done for me in the past in these links. For the Merc CE interior he charged me about £500 IIRC but that was very thing i.e. all 4 seats, headrests, door-cards, arm rests, centre consoles etc. With the BMW E36 it was less:
