Recommended insurance

Hi folks,
Just a question to ask if anyone can recommend either multi car insurance or single car only insurance as my quote from Adrian Flux was ridiculous, more than the Exige l has a few years back.......any leads appreciated.
 
You will get different quotes depending on your own personal circumstances of course, AF I found very good for cars with a tonne of mods, not so good on standard cars. Run it through confused.com or whatever, get some of the highstreet quotes and then start googling specialist brokers and giving them a go. No point me telling you what I use as more often than not it wont be cheapest for you, even if it was cheapest for me.

Note that prices in insurance generally are up on previous years given the change in the law for renewals taking on the highest costs and new quotes being given discounts so new quotes now are up on what you might have previously had.

Happy to say a Z4 owner kindly recommend Admiral who came in at half the price of A Flux........Happy Days :thumbsup:
 
It seems to change every year or two!

I seem to have alternated between AF and Chris Knott with my Z4s. Mainstream insurers aren't an option as my last two have had some modifications.

Don't want to spoil your day OP but after my nephew's experience when he had a claim with Admiral and they decided his E46 Touring was beyond economical repair (Cat S) I wouldn't use them. They made that decision without sending anyone to see it just based on photos from his phone - no way was it Cat S. :x

+1. That is, more or less, word for word what I was thinking of replying. :thumbsup:

Unless you have a heavily modded car, then the comparison site companies will always be cheapest (unless you have 11 points, DD, or a previous ban).

Of course an insurance policy is only measured on how good it is if you have to claim! :thumbsup:

What mods are so extreme that a 'high street' or 'mainstream' insurer aren't an option?

I have 'mods' on both my BMWs and mainstreams are still by far the cheapest (LV and Hastings).

I know the forum is sponsored by Chris Knott, but they were ridiculously expensive for me (Highway). All the 'unusual' cars seem to be insured with Highway through whichever broker. I had a grey Jap import through A-Plan (Newbury) once; Highway. :?

Well by mainstream I mean Saga (I'm old), Direct Line, Churchill, etc. and none of them understood what a custom cat-back exhaust or aftermarket back-boxes were. :roll: So I never got as far as telling them about E89 wheels on my 2nd E86 or 19" CSL Reps, H & R coil-overs and Aero sills on my current one.

LV were OK with my modified Z4s, but stupidly expensive for my bog-standard 330iSE. Saga are cheap as chips for my boggo 330i but really don't want to know about my Z4MC.

My first job in 1977 was in the insurance industry, but I'm glad I left it years ago before common-sense disappeared!
 
Always good to hear about everyone's experiences with insuranceas its such a luckydip thesedays, next on the list when l get her home will be advice on what maintenance jobs should l prioritise and what would be the best recommended mods.......I'm gonna have a lot of questions as a newby to Coupe ownership but my first priority will be to post pictures of it when it's home and meeting its new garage companion.......Saturday's the big day but its a 5 hour drive home to the Brecon beacons.

So is this the E86?
And you have bought an E89 in the past few months too?

Best part of 4 hours so plenty of initial seat time, I noticed it had the upgraded multi CD changer ( dont laugh, some of us still listen to them) stereo not sure how good it is?

My new purchase has a multi CD changer too. Just purchased a bluetooth unit with microphone to add another option beyond my 90’s electronica CD selection :lol:

Just saved that link, looks like a nobrainer for £18. Mind, I wouldn't have a clue as to how to fit it :P
 
CD music is still the best quality you will get in a car IMO.
This USB 'flash drive' and 'streaming' via bluetooth nonsense may be more convenient as I can get all 500 of my CDs on a USB 'stick', but the quality just isn't there. You do need a decent amp and speakers admittedly otherwise there is little point. :thumbsup:
