Anyone got a recommendation for a new battery

Mine is a varta currently and car is a 2010 3.0 without start stop

Tayna are generally best for choice and price. If the one you had has been fine for 5 years or so, I'd get the same again.

I use Varta from Tayna…

Yuasa, Bosch, Exide are all tier 1 suppliers…either 70ah or 80ah AGM

Anything but a Bosch
Its funny you should say that but I bought a Bosch in SW France and the morning I left for the UK the battery failed and never kept a charge. It was brand new, I had to limp back to the UK without air con and only 3 stops for 700 mile journey, it was a nightmare and so stressful. I did however buy another bosch and that one seems fine, I guess Im a glutton for punishment.
I did wonder if in transit the battery was laid on its side and the battery acid leaked out causing it to fail..

The failure rate of the Bosch 3/4/5 however long the warranty chosen is huge, and I don’t want to keep swapping a battery for a new one during the warranty. Also, the nee one does not reset the warranty period so after 3 replacements the warranty expired.

Mines a 23i (no start/stop) and this is what I ordered: Varta Start-Stop Silver Dynamic AGM 570 901 076 E39 12Volt 70Ah 760A/EN.
Exactly the same as the one it came out of the factory with. Shop about, I ended up getting it from the Battery Group, on that occasion it was cheaper than Tanya.

The Bosch battery in my 335 didn't see three years - It was replaced under warranty by the dealer at about £400

There are plenty of instance on the 'web' of people claiming that Bosch & Varta come out of the same factory & are identical. My 2015 E89 was built with a Bosch that served well for 6 years and may well have lasted longer but out of caution I replaced early last year with a Varta from Tayna.
In my experience so long as I've been fairly diligent connecting up to a Ctek (or similar) whenever the car isn't getting regular use, decent batteries have lasted for ages
The Bosch in my old Z3 lasted 14 years.
I guess we all have different experiences of these things.
