Recommendations for Warranty

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a warranty put on my car, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

I was looking a while ago, and managed to find a few quotes at around 500 quid. There was particular company which allowed you to pay a little extra to have all work carried out at BMW dealers. By any chance does anyone know who this might be?

Ideally I'm just looking for cover as cheap as possible, which would cover all the usual z4 issues if they were to occur.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Just go through BMW. A full warranty for an older model with no excess is sub-£500, just.

a lot of third parties will let you specify main dealers to do repiars, but may set a labour cap per hour, mine is due end Dec very tempted to stick with BMW for another year as I only had the head replaced about 4 months ago. Time will tell though.

I had my heart set on BMW warrenty until I realized it doesn't cover seals. Doesn't that include alot of things??

Also lots of people says how bad BMW body shop is compared to a good indie. Was wondering if its worth while looking at 3rd party warrenty that will let you choose a good indie??

Main dealer warranty on mine ran out before I bought the car, and haven't had one in it since.

Having looked at the BMW site it looks like you can only extend further following an existing BMW policy, and not open a 'brand new' warranty.

I'm not too worried about seals, more about the roof. Mine was playing up for a while, but followed ship-killers guide to fix, and it seems to be OK again for the time being. If it does break, I want to have a warranty in place to cover the cost of replacement.

If you have the BMW comprehensive warranty it should cover oil seals in the engine/gearbox. I think the wording on the policy talks about not covering window channels and seals, I assume these 'seals' are related to the windows and not the engine.

Yeah I think they'll cover engine seal. Someone posted recently BMW warrenty refused to cover leak into footwell because they dont cover seals, and also they refused to cover fog lamp condensation because it is considered corrosion.

Not sure if this is on par with other warrenty though

if you go with BMW's comprehensive cover (with £100 excess) and pay the whole year in one go it's £421. that works out to be just over £35 per month. i think that's quite good and is the option i'll be taking.

Can you get a quote for BMW warranty online?

Everytime I look I only seem to be able to find the page for renewals which requires a renewal code.
