V VvrooomM Senior member Sep 8, 2012 #2 It's just a grit guard, anything pretty much that stops the sponge or micro mitt getting to the bottom. Mine floats which is a pain at times but nothing a couple of bits of lead didn't sort. Tapatalking on my iPhone.......
