stayed here a few times - great place.
However, this is where I stay the most - usually in the Gardener's (and I go about once a year, every year, for the last 12 years!)

It's not ON skye, but it's very close (9 miles of great road

)
It's situated at the foot of a mountain and the shore of Loch Long (it really IS at the foot of the mountain - step out the door and turn left and you're already climbing the foothill. And the loch is just the other side of the single track road).
eilean donan castle is within walking distance, as is a small village with pubs, restaurants and nice picnic spot.
There is a hotel 300 yards away that do good food and have a bar that'll stay open as long as you want.
There's a convenience store about 1/4 mile along the road, and then Kyle of Lochalsh is only 10 minutes drive - where you'll find a nice large supermarket.
I used to stay here even before the bridge was free, as I could never really find anywhere on Skye I liked staying.
Can't recommend it enough
(Ps - off topic, but if you're a steak eater, try the steaks in the Plockton hotel (also the "local" for Hamish the copper in the BBC series Hamish MacBeth

)
