Recommend Disc & Pads - Oem?

HI Guys

My rear pads and discs are getting a bit low and as am doing 2600 miles on this Euro trip think its a good idea to get them done beforehand.

Had a quick look around is Bmwminparts.com the cheapest place for replacments or does anyone have any further recommendations?

Slightly off topic but I noticed that my pads seem nearly new on the front and rear with loads of meat still left on them, this is after 32,000 miles. The front discs however, have worn down to the point where I can feel a lip on the top of the disc.

Brakes are fine yet and discs are wearing evenly. Are the pads made of a very hard material? Seems like the discs are wearing faster than the pads! :?
 
Paza, the cheapest I found for genuine front discs was bmminiparts (£164 per side + £11 delivery) - compared to about £200/side from BMW. You can get Pagid ones from EuroCarParts (with their 30% DP30 discount code) for £128 each (delivered).



John, the BMW pads only lasted 15,000 miles for me - and produced LOTS of dust. I swapped them out for new EBC Yellows and new discs all round at 23k miles, and I got 30k miles out of the new pads. Rear discs are fine, but the fronts are showing a tiny lip - although not enough to warranty replacement until I come back from my 'Ring trip in a couple of weeks.
 
Tony, maybe I'm not driving it hard enough???? Might have to step the pace up a bit on the next meet :evil:
Seriously though, I'm quite suprised how well the pads have lasted, mind I don't track the car so perhaps that's the difference.

Thanks :thumbsup: would recommend the EBC range and wheres the best place for them :? , like the idea of the Ebc yellow pads

Anyone recommend Brembo?
 
AFAIK, Textar brake pads are the oem manufacturer for bmw, you can get them on eBay for a lot less than buying from bmw...

I've only ever used EBC Yellow or Blue, but the Blue is not certified for road use - although I find the initial bite better than the Yellows, so am sticking with them, as they come into their own on track/hoon.

Although as a BMMC (British Motorsport Marshal's Club) member I take advantage of the 50% offer - and get a 4-wheel set for about £120 - which is a bargain when you consider Ferodo DS3000 are £200+ for just the fronts.

They don't do an 3GD disc for the M, so I've never had the chance to save on those - but find the standard discs are fine for me.

:oops: I've not used them before so, their website would've caught me out on that one! VAT at 20% is a significant amount these days. :evil:

Aren't the OEM discs the "floating" type? If so, IMO, they're hard to beat.

I believe so, which makes them good value, even at full dealer price, when you see Brembo/Stoptech/EBC asking over £200 for a 'simpler' disc.
 
So bmminiparts for the rear oem disc's thats sorted then :D £100 all in per side

So EBC pads wheres the best place , that offer the best deal so far 70ish for a pair of rear pads any better deals :?
