Recommend a brake disc

I need new brakes on the front of my car. I previously had Axxis Deluxe pads which were great for dust and ok (I suppose) at stopping the car. I am looking this time at ATE pads. I have heard good reports about them both for performance and dust quantity.

My question is, I really need to get new discs too... the choice at Eurocarparts is :

Pagid Brake Disc - £33.54
Eicher Brake Disc - £23.10
Textar Brake Disc - £41.94

Which would you go for, or would you look for something else?

I am not interested in a "big brake kit", as I will only be keeping the car another year or so, just want something that works well, less dust and stops the car when I want to.

I've been using Pagid discs and pads to great effect. OEM levels of dust though so I'm tempted to try Textar e-pads next.

Was considering that myself... then (I guess) the choice of disc is simple (Textar)?

I think it's fine to mix and match but it wouldn't do any harm to choose Textar pads and discs. :thumbsup:

Yeah.. quite pricey though (hadn't realised it wasn't for a pair!)
 
I went for the Textar discs and more expensive Textar Epads from europarts, I'm very impressed with the pads which produce a lot less dust, zero squeal, and although the ultimate stopping power is probably little better than standard, they feel more 'meaty' with less fade under sustained braking. The initial bite is exactly the same as standard which is good since this can suffer with 'upgraded' pads and I hate the heart-stopping sensation of finding nothing there for a moment because the brakes were cold. The high ceramic Epads are also supposed to wear the discs a lot less.

I'm very happy despite the cost :thumbsup:
 
I can recommend Textar.

I had Textar discs and pads fitted recently and I have been very pleased with the results. To me they offer the same performance as an OEM setup, they are very good quality.
 
I'd hope Textar are good, OEM brakes are Textar!

I fitted Pagid discs and pads 2 years ago and they have been great.
 
tempted by the textar e-pads and discs... by far the most expensive option but ECP are doing 25% off (MARCH25 code) so I guess not so bad...
 
I drive my car really hard and have had no trouble with my pagid discs, no warping or delamination so i'd recommend them, why pay more I'd say!

Pads seem about the same as OEM, i'd be interested in upgrading them for some with greater stopping power, only if they dont 'squeal' though.

The main reason I bought my Axxis pads was for the lack of dust... I want the replacements to be the same, that's pretty much the reason I am looking at the textar e-pads

In that case e-pads sound a good idea. Pagid and (normal) textar pads are both very dusty.

Personally I don't mind the dust, it's the squealing I can't stand!

Anyone tried EBC? Need to change mine soon and EBC disc/pad packages are not much more than Pagid on EBay (price wise)
