Recommemded brake pads

Looking to change pads on all 4 wheels simply cause I've had enough with cleaning the dust off the wheels everytime I take it out. Are the Axxis Deluxe comparable in braking performance (I'm no week-end racer) to the OEM's, and does it in fact considerably reduce dust build-up?

They do reduce the dust quite a bit. The pad feel is not the same as OEM, more of a gradual feel instead of that initial strong bite that OEM's have. I would say they are comparable to OEM in stopping power, but just feel different. I've also had the Hawk equivalent, and I don't know which I liked better. I do remember both the Hawk and the Axxis significantly reduced the brake dust and both had a lighter colored brake dust so that it took even longer before the wheels needed to be cleaned. I got both sets of pads from the Zechhausen site too.

Thanks, very useful comments!

Assuming you live in Quebec - the Axxis Ultimates operate at (slightly) higher temprature than OE and general aftermarket - when cold they will not be as effective until warmed up. They are a great pad, just something you need to consider if driving in cold temps.

Good point. If you don't plan on tracking your car, stick with Axxis Deluxe or Hawk HPS pads. I believe both of those are the "stock replacement" pads that offer the same cold stopping power as OEM, but without the dust. The race pads also squeal quite loudly and are not recommended for street use. Though once warmed up feel like they can stop a freight train.  :yeah:

Was looking for the Deluxe instead of Ultimate. As for the cold, it's not an issue for me since this car never goes out in winter. Thanks for the input!

I'm also after pads but want something that gives better stopping power, if axxis don't give better stopping power when cold what are my best options?

Basically I'm not that happy with the braking performance of my 2.5 which has OEM pads but the front's are almost gone, will i see an increase inperformance just by changing the pads for OEM new ones?

No improvement when you change OEM pads.

I put the Axxis pads on my X5 and noticed no difference in cold / hot weather. They do make more noise when cold though ...

Plus the Axxis pads have almost zero brake dust. I have axxis on the fronts and OEM on the rears. After 2 days of normal (non-sprited) driving to and from work (about 6 miles) there is an obvious difference in the shade of grey on the tires.
