Got a couple of weeks off this Xmas and looking to recolour my soft top roof Iv never done anything like this before and don't want to mess it up! Originally mine was grey but have decided it would look better black as my Z is Sterling Grey. At the moment the hood is a light greenish colour and have read this common for them to loose there colour over time. Iv read several threads on the matter and would just like some last minute advice doing this and what is the best product to dye my roof black as I'm not sure what material Z4 roofs are :-/ Cheers guys.
Old pic of my Z below

id be very wary dyeing the roof as ive read of many disasters happening! It sounds like a simple job yet seems to go wrong a lot :?

As a 4 time hood 'dyer' I think I can give you some good advice.

My roof was the same colour as yours, 'Grey', more like Green. Here's a before pic:

As you can see, rather shocking  I bought renovo products to dye mine black first time round. Firstly, use either their cleaner or autoglyms one to make sure any protective coating/dirt/mould is cleared away from the material. Then you need to use sheets to protect the bodywork as the dye is runny and likes to spill everywhere.

Make sure you dye it in a garage and not outside. Should come out like this:

I've also experimented with red and Burgundy dyes, as shown below:

In the end, I was never 100% happy and went and got new hood fabric fitted at huge cost. But for a quick job, renovo reviver black does a perfectly fine job.

For a re-colour, you will need a 1 litre bottle.
