Recent E86 coupe owner....

I thought it was time I introduced myself to the Forum... I live in Torbay, and have been a member for a couple of months and finally bought my E86 coupe near the end of last year after viewing several.
I have been a big E39 fan in the past and always had them as a second car, due to having run of the mill company cars. I sold my last E39 at the beginning of 2020 and decided I needed another BMW to fill the void. I have been a big fan of the E86 ever since their release, but could never justify one.
Living in Torbay, made the search all the more difficult as most were in the north of England or at least several hours away. having missed a few, I opted for this manual Carbon Black 3.0si Sport. It wasn't perfect, but it had the spec i was looking for and it got me a coupe
I have so far completely renewed the rear breaks and break pipes as these were a little suspect. So at least it is now safe. oh and added the forum sticker... :D
I had the wheels refurbed in Lamborghini matt bronze. Not to everyone's taste I know, but think it sets the car off. A few more bits to sort, but happy to slowly do these things, whilst enjoying the Coupe.

Welcome to the forum!

I had to google where Torbay was surprised to see i pretty much drove past it last week on the way back from Cornwall! I'm in Totton, near Southampton, so not too far away - maybe catch you on a meet if there is one between us!

For the record the car looks epic on those wheels and carbon black definitely one of the best colours....... some days you have a black car, other days a blue car and very occasionally its looked almost purple!

:driving:

Hi and welcome aboard.

Bonus points for putting photos in your first post, especially as your car looks so good!

Carbon Black is a great colour and those bronze wheels really suit it.

Just bear in mind Coupes can be addictive.

Welcome to the forum and what a great looking car. There’s a few members going for bronze wheels recently, but I think your MV2s are unique. Enjoy

Thank you all for the kind comments. I'm glad that you all approve on the wheel colour choice. A bit of a Marmite situation, some love it and some wince... But it would be boring if we all liked the same?
Really grown to love the Carbon Black and how different the car can look in various light. Yes I can see how they can be addictive. I'm still getting to know the car, but loving every minute.
Southampton not too far at least its the right side.. We have a few E85 roadsters in the area, but I haven't seen another coupe. It would be good if there was a gathering somewhere close by.
Great forum also... Some really good topics.

Hi and welcome . Looking good with those wheels .You now need to get the amber indicators as they seem to be the way to go if you have a black Z4 and bronze wheels

I think the pre-facelift E85s had them.

Bronze wheels and amber lights seems popular with Monaco Blue Coupe owners, but then your car probably looks blue usually!

Thanks for the info Mr Tidy, they do look quite good.. but I think I will stick with original. I've always like the clear indicators that BMW put on their Face Lift cars.

Welcome aboard, lovely looking coupe you have there!

+1 on the wheel colour (although I would say that)

Hi, Yes there is something about them... Scott L that keeps you smiling :D
Nice one Calps... The bronze does suit the dark cars...

I like your bronze wheels so much I’ve decided to copy you when I get my 108s referbed - thanks for the inspiration

All bronze or just either the rim or inner star? A black and bronze two tone on a 108 might work on a black car. Just a thought.

I haven’t thought about the finer details yet but if the outer rims are black it might make the wheel look smaller / tyre wall look taller…. You’ve given me something to think about now though hah

I think I'd go bronze outer, black inner - not sure if it would look great or a bit tacky. If you put up a picture of your coupe and ask politely for a Photoshop mock-up then someone will probably oblige.
