Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the remedy is complete. Dealers will replace the engine starter, free of charge. Interim notification letters informing owners of the safety risk are scheduled to be mailed November 14, 2025. Owners will receive a second notice as remedy parts become available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-5257417. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning November 14, 2025.

If you do not want to park outside.
Is there another way to disable power to the starter relay other than disconnecting the battery cable?

I’ve just returned from holiday to find the recall notice. I rang my dealer who said bmw won’t have parts until at least next March. So what about the interim? Quite ridiculous.
I pressed them on the car’s safety until then and what would happen if it went up in flames? Contact your insurer and bmw was the answer…….
Unbelievable.

I'm confused.....being in the UK, how can I find out if my car needs to be recalled?
I don't want to wait for something that may get lost in the post!

Not even had a letter yet, only realised as for some reason I checked my cars MOT history (despite knowing it already). Tomorrow's first task - call my BMW dealer.

Received a txt today from DVLA reminding me of my MOT( already passed with flying colours) and advised that the car is subject of a recall. Contacted dealer and they said no recall. 🤷‍♂️
