Reasonably shrewd move....or not...??

At that "kinda" money i would be buying a Cayman 981 GT4.

You money will be fairly safe.

The 718 GTS is a great car,but it will shed money, then bounce back but not back to new money.......probably 10 years down the line if you dont use it too much it will bring 70% of what you paid

John - with man maths at its best, you can run two cars with that logic.

I bought the 911-50 which is sitting at a nice profit level (not that I am selling), but is at least 20 - 30k above the price I paid for it. Hence the purchase of the X5M which at least swallowed that appreciation with depreciation during the same time :D

Not worried about the impact of electric cars, if there is a nice 993 going, I would get that as well even if I can only drive it a limited amount per year if the government was to tax it to death.

So go for it 8)

With the market on the slide i can't imagine a better time to get into a 993 than now or the next 6 months , there are lots for sale ( certainly way more than you would imagine with circa 60-70 advertised ) , majority are with big name dealers no doubt on SoR & most of those at inflated unrealistic prices .
This one looks like its had the coins spent on it & in decent colour scheme ,https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-993-Carrera-Tiptronic-S-low-miles-massive-history/333655368886?hash=item4daf68e4b6:g:f0MAAOSw2-FfDwS~ i appreciate manual would be your preference but the tiptronic are pretty good in the air cooled cars , i had a 964 tip C2 , was blast to drive :driving:

Nope it’s a roadster or nowt... 70% of its value would be fantastic, I’d be happy as a sand boy with that and as my post the kind of area I “ think”it’ll be....

As for old Carreras etc, for one they do nothing at all for me, and even to buy one to stick in a barn for an investment...ain’t, that sort of money goes towards house rentals in my little world.

Do it! I will be taking delivery of a Gentian Blue 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 in the next week or so. Nobody has a crystal ball and goodness knows what will happen in the future but if you can afford to buy one now then why not.

Excellent news Boyo....!!

Full review and pics ASAP please.....!! Personally I think that engine will be a massive grin inducer despite the long gearing. Top job sir..!! :driving:

Do it,John-e89.
If you can,do so. Life is too short,as recent events are proving in particular.
N/a sports cars are a dying breed in this sector.

Interesting subject, but IMO Porsche won't be moving away from 6 cylinders in the next generation. They've realised that they made as balls-up with the 4 pot and moved back to try and claw back some sales. With COVID and the following likely recession, manufacturers will be more risk-averse and sticking with what they and buyers know and will make a cleaner, cylinder deactivation 60 mpg possible boxster and cayman in my opinion.

PVR, are you sure there's a profit in your 50th car....they're listed for £80k-ish now. :?

Fortunately, I bought the manual gearbox and the real fanatics / collectors go for that one (think of the price difference between the 993, 996 Turbo manual and Tip).

Think my dealer must have been very happy to sell the two they had recently for 120k (PDK models) as Covid will have had an impact.
