Hmm,

Although I've already plastidipped the chrome surrounds on my kidneys, Chris-D's post about doing his got me thinking...

The only other bit of "superfluous" chrome on my Zed, is the bootlid badge...

So, now wondering whether I should remove and plastidip that in black, before replacing it..

Thoughts?

Mike

I thought about dipping the badges. I thought about removing them and filling/painting the recesses (too much of a faff).
but decided on replacing the whole set with these rather low-key black and silver beasts as per the current boot badge.
Can u tell what's wrong with the current one that's on there tho? an OCD sufferer will get it straight away....lol

[ref]Chris_D[/ref], was only on about the actual Z4 badge Chris.

Mike
ohhhh lol!
I just posted on sharpy's thread as he's done exactly the same. painted it black, just to put it back on his black zed. bonkers lol.
get rid of it! looks way better! cleaner. everyone knows it's a z4 and those that don't, like my elderly neighbour, ask if it's a Ferrari.

True - Could be worse, I could have suggested replacing it with an ///M badge!! :fuelfire:

You don't need to remove the badge to Plastidip it. Just mask an area 3 or 4 inches around the badge. Spray several thin coats from various angles. Remove the masking and carefully peel the Plastidip from around the badge. You can 'free' the Plastidip from any tight corners with a sharp point like a cocktail stick. I've not had a go myself but there are loads of videos on YouTube. Take a look.

The rear BMW emblem did it have 2 prongs or was it just stuck on with adhesive?

was thinking of changing mine as a subtle mod but the ones ive looked at all have 2 prongs. i watched a video and the one they stuck on the back was stuck on.

I think the roundel has prongs, the Z4 badge just sticks on.

Correctomundo! 10 points and a discount voucher for OCD-anonymous membership! Lol
It's off by about 1 degree.
I affixed the sticker to the badge but neglected to mark a top dead centre for reference before attaching to the boot. Doh.
Bugs the hell out of me so i'll be getting a new one  :o

Shocking, young lads these days 8)

I debadged the sides of mine and then took the rear badge off as well but didn't like the rear debadged I thought
it made the boot look lopsided because of the keyhole, in the end I painted the Z4 badge and my grills to match
my wheels the best colour match to my wheels was BMW spacegrey I think it looks much better than the chrome.

I have also replaced the carbon badges on the boot and bumper and gone back to standard blue and white badges

Prefer that to the chrome buddy

Only roadster badges look OK as symmetrical with key hole
On coupes I'd take them off
