Rear view mirror key receiver not working

Was your original mirror also an auto-dimming mirror?

Also, does replacing the mirror require re-coding or is the replacement mirror plug and play?

Yes my original mirror was auto dimming so swapped it with the same but second hand. No coding needed - 5 minute job.
 
OK, so 2009 Z4 FOB is also not working. auto door locks work, battery fob replaced, about to replace rear view but homelink on mirror works just fine. Help. Obviosly doors and trunk not operating on FOB
 
If button to lock doors in car works the GM5 module is fine. If it's got a new battery likely to be mirror. . Your mirror has a model code on . You have to get the same code . All bmw are sadly different and some work on different frequencys . There are some exceptions and which will work on other cars. I did have a link with all model numbers as I had to but one off ebay too was £40. Lot cheaper
 
Open above link find your mirror number click on it and tells you what others are compatible and what cars they were fitted too. Hope it helps. Mark
