Rear toe adjustment out!

I have seen many threads similar to this after a lot of googling but nothing specific enough to help.

I have just had an alignment done where the front end went as expected but the rear is problematic.

The rear camber won’t come in to less that -2.5 camber. That I can live with for now but isn’t ideal. The main problem is the rear toe is out rather than in! 0.2 total toe out.

The car is going Nurburg in 2 weeks and I am trying to fix the issue by then. So the question is, is the adjustment on in the three bolts of the rear trailing arm the only place to adjust (this is where I was told it is maxed), or is there an eccentric bolt for toe too? Also, is there any aftermarket parts I can buy to achieve more toe in.

Thanks in advance!

I have taken a small amount of rear camber off as it was scrubbing the inside edge as I do more miles on straight. so therefore not leaning on the rear as much as I did

To do this you need the adjustable rear camber arms

Are all your rear bushes all in good condition mine are all black polly bushes just a step away from rose jointing the car

The 3 bolts are the bolts to adjust the rear toe and normally rusted in position mine was fully rebuilt so moved too easy as the tech said this will not more but I will try he then had to pull it back and say who built this answer me of course all greased and adjustable same story at the front steering arm adjusters

Maybe jack the car up and free the arms off so you have full movement then go back

The 3 bolts came free and it does move but maxed out and still toeing out. Is there anywhere else the toe is adjusted, or only there?
Cheers

Can not see where there could be another adjustment anywhere else off to study ream OEM for a few mins

I am sure item 11 is for camber adjustment if you are lucky as these always rust solid

Can not see anything else other than worn bushes or not moving as it should

Hi, thanks for checking! Also, the trailing arms look good!
All the camber adjusts as it should. I’m assuming I can only get less with camber arms due to it being lowered on springs maybe.
Just stick with finding any aftermarket ways of getting more toe adjustment.
Thanks still!

If you have an issue with toe then replace 17 in the diagram with adjustable toe plates…that’s what I did on my E89 whicj is essentially the same suspension system on the rear…together with adjustable camber arms..

Also if your RTABs bushes are old and set they affect it..maybe time for fresh RTABs and associated bushes..

Adjustable camber arms and maybe these adjustable toe brackets https://www.speedingparts.co.uk/p/chassis/car-suspension/steering-system/adjustable-toe-in-brackets-rear-bmw-e36-e46-z4.html .

Could I get some links to recommended parts to fix this? I'm sorry I'm not too experienced with this.

Do just any camber arms work?

The issue with the E85/E89 trailing arm rear suspension is that camber and toe are affected by each other …hence why it’s often required to have both more adjustment on the camber arms and adjustable toe plates..

The question is the cost of those changes worth the effort..

If you put fresh toe plates in then really you should refurb the various bushes in there..plus the issue of RTAB limiters..

I watched a few U tube videos n how to set your car up with string and they said that the camber affects the toe so you need to adjust check adjust check and again as they change each other

My car is lowered has the adjustable camber arms and the eccentric bush replaced with a fixed one

So from what I'm reading, I need some parts like these in the pictures and adjustable camber arms?

Yes amongst many other offerings…you need to consult the E85 gurus on the RTABS..personally I would used Meyle HD if I was on a budget and Hardrace if I wasn’t..
