Rear Tail light LED replacement!

Has anybody had the LED tail light go on their E89's?

My drivers side light is not working :headbang: and I thought I would see if it was a DIY job!

The drivers handbook say 'contact BMW Service'!
 
Yup, my indicator LED's on the nearside rear light have started to go, there's about three of them now that no longer light up.

I mentioned it when I took the him in for a service last week and the dealer is changing the light under warranty for me - LED's should last a lot longer than the year mine have after all. The dealer also said that they have to change the whole unit to fix it...which leads me to think that they're not something you'd be able to do as a DIY effort?

'Tis the only colour to have, naturally! None of the others make the car look anywhere near as exotic nor as downright amazing :thumbsup:

How do you know the LEDs are going when you're driving along? Someone told you or does dash come up with a warning?

Nick - my lights are on all the time - so when I start the car up I can get out and see!

Took the car into the dealers (Barons Farnborough) today and they said both of my rear lights will be replaced under warranty due to LED failure (drivers side) and water entry in the indicator (nearside) - RESULT :thumbsup:
