Rear suspension thud on potholes

I'm trying to identify some noise deriving from what I believe is one of the rear suspensions.
When driving on potholes or turning to the left sharply on uneven roads, I can clearly hear a thud coming from the right-hand side from the back.

During the standard checks on the car nothing has come up, and the car seems to have a good grip and balance on the road.
I'm wondering whether this is a known problem, it's just a suspension that might need replacing or it comes as a result of the stiff M suspensions which causes the problem?

Any comments will be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks Mr.President.
When you say "they tend to snap", is it something that can be fixed keeping the existing spring or is it because they're worn and need replacing?
I'll mention this in the next inspection due around October this year.

They will need to be replaced.
Maybe someone will have another suggestion of what can be producing this thud sound, but i would address the suspension issue as soon as possible.

I've been struggling to find my rear suspension noise too, which was more a metallic thud. Changed the outer upper and lower bushes and problem sorted.

Think they were original items.

When I had that thudding problem on my 3 Series it turned out to be a shock absorber that had been leaking for quite a while, so it's worht checking those too.
