Rear suspension e89 bilstein b4 fitted and knocking

I’ve just replaced my rear near side shock with Bilstein B4’s. It seems to be knocking.
Can anybody confirm that the gold spacer supplied with the kit goes under the top bolt?
There’s also a washer supplied which I assume is used on the bottom bolt.

I hope and assume you replaced both rear shocks at the same time?

What did the fitment instructions say?

Are you sure it's not the spring collapsing on itself?

I've seen this before on the E89 where the rear springs compress that much the coils rub against each other and make a sound that can be mistaken for knocking.

I had the gold spacer in the wrong place,it doesn’t go below the top bolt, but under the cupped plate.Al good now. Both sides replaced.
I took my E89 to a BMW main dealer to have the bi-annual brake fluid change. They did a ‘free’ inspection and told me one of the rear shock absorbers was leaking. The price they quoted was £508 for one side. When I suggested that both sides should be replaced, they said no it’s not needed! Naturally I declined their services. I purchased 2 Bilstein B4,s from Autodoc and did the job myself. On inspection of the old Shock Absorber’s, I found there was absolutely nothing wrong with them, not a leak of any kind. The robbing bastards.IMG_2631.jpeg
