Rear Springs - Pleasant Surprise

Had my car booked in yesterday/today for an exhaust emission problem, got a call from dealer today to advise all fixed, then another later to advise my offside rear spring was broken.

I had no indication of this, and both me and the dealer had the wheels off two weeks ago, so my guess is it happened on the Kent/Sussex run last week.

Anyway when I collected the car I asked if they had both been replaced (as you doing knowing they will say no only one sir), and to my surprise they had, I was told this was done due to the low mileage (27k 3.5yrs old), now this seems like crap to me but I'm not going to argue as it's all under warranty. :D

Yep, very pleased to hear it's sorted! Excellent news on the springs... good that they have improved their service - assuming this is the same lot that you had the tyre issues with.

I take it they didn't notice / mention anything about the miles done since the light came on?

No mention of the miles sine the light cam on or the way it was driven so no problems there. :D

Glad that's all sorted Steve and under warranty. Never nice having to spend car budget on fixing things especially shortly before selling.

Glad to hear some dealers are very amicable.

Did you notice any symptoms with your broken spring?

I've never had my car serviced at a dealer.. and with my manufacturers warranty up in Jan 11 maybe i should give it a once over in summer incase it needs any work.

I think most people only know because they can hear the broken bit rattling, but I had no indication it was broken, as said wheels had only been off two weeks before when dealer replaced the wheels, then again when I waxed them and they were alright then.

I didnt mine would go that early TBH given the low mileage and age of the car.
