The way I set it up, it's as good. I simply ran an aerial wire around the boot (trunk) rubber and coiled another one inside the fin (after removing the original circuit board that came with the aerial). Velcro taped the antenna receiver/amp against the inside of the rear fender, since it doesn't have the original antenna to hold up against.

From an North American Honda Accord. Low fin design was needed because our rear fender is angled outwards, so a high sticking fin just won't do.
