Rear spoiler

So , I got a boot spoiler for the old girl a few weeks ago, and have been very happy with it . Then the water pump was playing up and I forgot about the boot spoiler. I just had a nudge from the supplier for a review, which I have done. It go me back on track as to how much I really love this bit of kit . So much so that I’d like to share this ,and hope you might consider these guys if you are looking. I got this from ( the carbon factory) hope this is ok to post please ( mods ) 😬
As I said, very pleased with it , amazing build quality. Sharp looking, amazing finish. Can’t fault it , and it ties in with the carbon steering wheel that I got elIMG_0173.jpegsewhere.IMG_0172.jpeg

I like the design of that version but the c/f finish to my mind is ‘naff’ as in couldn’t afford the paint

Looks much better colour matched but each to their own

You may be missing the point of carbon fibre, some people like the fact that the carbon is visible and a carbon part will be more expensive than a plastic or fibre glass part. If you were going to paint it you would buy a cheaper fibre glass version.
It would be a shame to cover the carbon fibre finish when it matches in with other parts of the car.

It’s a matter of personal taste..yes I have some c/f trim interior..however the external bodywork is all painted..having now seen in the flesh several of these in c/f and painted I’d vote with the painted version for the same reasons analyst said…vive la difference..

Churlish to say it shouldn’t be done but at the same time if you put something up for comment / appreciation then not all comments are going to be fully accepting…

Whippy vs stubby discussion anyone?

Very nice, and also props for the flat-bottom steering wheel and the stubby aerial.

Absolutely agree, I wouldn’t expect everyone to agree with what I’m doing /done . If you put up a post then expect negative as well as positive. I did actually say I was intending to paint , and had I not had the carbon steering wheel then I would have. But for me , it was just too nice . Each to their own ….. Stubby ALWAYS 😂

On another note though, not sure if its the camera angle, but it looks like the wind deflector isnt clipped in properly

Pretty sure the carbon factory stuff is 'proper' CF not plastic look-a-like. Anyone who paints expensive CF is a knob IMHO.

I like a subtle bootlid spoiler. And that fits the bill. The E89 benefits from a little enhancement on the rear end IMO.

The wind defector is fine, it's the nearside suspension that has collapsed.

I am pretty sure some car manufacturers have the option to paint carbon fiber panels or leave them exposed. Are you calling them knobs?  :fuelfire:

Personally I agree with B21 in this case the spoiler would look better colour matched to the car. Sure some cars in some cases look great with exposed carbon fiber bits (mainly super cars) but not in this case. Of course if I were getting a spoiler I would get a cheaper fiber glass or plastic one so it can be painted over.

yep , real carbon, otherwise I’d have just hydro dipped. This thread was just trying to promote the company, mainly because as I said, I did intend to paint, but it was just too nice . I love the sharp profile and was willing to pay for that even to paint it , in the end , I couldn’t do it 😂
