Rear Spoiler

Hey-Hey.

I've browsed the forum archives and the internet, and nothing caught my attention. Any suggestions for a subtle rear spoiler that matches the OEM painting, or could be painted to match?

Thanks,

Marc

My second attempt is about low profile as you can get on an E89...

I’d be wary of pre painted versions..the first one I got was but it was a terrible colour match due in part to poor prep... :tumbleweed:

IMHO better get a carbon fibre one and get it sprayed professionally by your local body shop...

Looks nice. Got a link to the seller? Thanks.

Hello I've lost the details on mine but this one looks a similar quality/design..avoid any glass fibre or other plastic versions IMHO..

Thanks. I had seen that one. The middle section is so-so. I'll keep searching.

Yes I know what you think...actually I like it and it works well with the centre light..as you can see on my photos..

Colour matching transforms how it looks IMHO..

Enjoy your search..

Why would you pay a huge premium for carbon fibre and then paint it to look like plastic!!!

Several reasons..

The quality and finish tends to be better than the glass fibre versions and the moulded versions

It’s a lot lighter

It colour keys and doesn’t react with the base moulding..my glass fibre version released chemicals after about a year in situ and bubbled the paint..

Carbon fibre IMHO bits look naff in certain situations ..integrating it via colour match makes it look oem..

Simple..

Quick update. I've ordered a carbon fibre spoiler on eBay for US$120 delivered. I'm going to have the mirrors, the rollover protectors, the side reflectors, etc, painted to match the bodywork, so might as well make the spoiler match.

On my car I painted the roll overs gloss black as I had other gloss black sections such as part of the rear valance...

Just a thought...sometimes having everything colour matched ends up looking a bit ‘tacky’

Just a personal view and yes I know my car is bright yellow..

You can get the later LCI side repeaters in gloss black which looks classy..

All depends on your base colour of course..
