Rear speakers not working

Hi all,

One of the rear speakers isn't working and the other is intermittent and distorted/poor quality.

There is no amp next to the battery so I assume it's the basic system fitted.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks,
Dan

If you have cubby-holes in the bulkhead behind the seats it's the basic 6 speaker system. If you have speakers there it'll be one of the upgraded options.

Has this just happened (and have you been doing any tinkering) or did you get the car like that?
Likely causes:
- faulty head unit
- faulty speakers
- loom not plugged into head unit correctly (or pins not seated in plug properly)
- water damaged loom (loom runs under the carpet along the left hand cill - check under the carpet (there’s a gap under the seat) for wetness)
- sound balance set towards front of car (accessible via “tone” button iirc)
Probably in inverse order.

Since I got the car it's been like this. It had an aftermarket head unit, I was hoping it was the unit that was the issue.

I've refitted the standard business cd unit and it's still the same.

I've checked the balance and all is fine. I'll check the wiring as suggested.

Thanks for the advice

Regards,
Dan
