rear speakers - no bass?

Hi peeps, I've been toying with the audio to find out what ive got.

Radio BMW Business CD
CD changer for 6 CDs
HiFi system professional DSP

So I checked with the radio in car service manual thing and yes I do have DSP. But speaker wise..I can only see two in the doors, two near the wingmirrors and then 4 behind the seats.
When I play with the bass /balance/fad the speakers behind the seats don't have any bass at all....literally nothing. Is that normal?

I seem to have a black amp in the boot, to you think the speakers are faulty or something? I could have sworn when I first had the car there was much more of a 'surround sound' feel.

Has the amp been disconnected for any reason? Wen I had a spring changed on my 5er (the amp is mounted on the wheel arch), when they put it back together all bass disappeared from my audio set-up. Turned out that the amp has to be reconnected with the ignition on (I think - but best check that!!). Anyway, it sorted it... might be worth investigating :)

My rear subs/speakers (the big ones behind the seats) only seem to have bass from the cd player and not the changer or radio

I have exactly the same, only bass from the rears when playing CD's from the head unit

Would be good to know a way to make use of them on the radio and the cd changer (which has been substituted with an iPod lead). Never really listen to CDs, pita to carry about in the limited space the z has lol

Having been digging around...apparently the subs are wired to the front speakers...hence the lack of bass from behind (only the rear small speakers are wired to the 'rear'. That sucks a little!!
