Rear Screen Spots - Peeling off

Hi Guys

There are some kind of bubbles that are appearing on the rear screen, Its like the outer layer of the screen is peeling off (from the outside) all around the edges and it is moving more central. Not too sure what caused it ? (may be the autoglym hood cleaner ?!!!! )

I have tried cleaning it but doesn't really work as the spots seems to be too deep, so I presume it is some kind of plastic or Plexiglas ??!!

Are there any products that would make it Crystal clear or get rid of the spots ?

Doesn't sound good, not sure what the cause is but have used Autoglym hood cleaner for a few years now with no issues :o

Any chance of posting a photo to give us a better idea of the issue you have
 
IIRC the rear screens are laminated glass, sounds like the laminate is separating? As Swiftly says, photos will help determine if thats the case...
 
stupid question I know.. but you've checked it's not INSIDE the car right? (eg, lent over and tried to clean the glass from inside the car?

looks too "brown" to be the laminate separating?



also.. tried using Autoglym Fast Glass at all?

finally - assuming they're not inside, do they "disappear" when the screen is wet?
 
From the pictures it looks like whatever it is is on the inside?
To me it looks like watermarks on the inner surface, though I'm finding it pretty difficult to tell!
 
Yes, It is difficult to tell from the pics but it is definitely on the outside, you can actually feel it with your fingers and its not watermarks or dirt, they are quiet thick as well ...

I have tried tried hard cleaning the marks and that but they just don't budge. At first I thought the screen was some kinda Plexiglas or something which is understandable but now I am really baffled on what it can be !!
 
Aren't you supposed to keep the hood cleaning stuff OFF the glass? It could be residue of the cleaning stuff that is stuck to the glass rather than peeling off... the screen is glass and not plastic so perhaps use a razor blade to very gently 'scrape' some of the spots off?

I think it maybe the Autoglym as i had a few of these after i did my hood and let some over spray of the water proofer get on the front screen, and didn't clean it up quick enough.

A good glass cleaner may do the job perhaps a paste type that actually cuts through it.

I used normal glass cleaner with a microfibre cloth soon after which got it off ok but still the odd faint mark.

It does say on the bottle to use the autoglym stuff.

Looks like water type marks left by the cleaning/reproofing agent rather than the laminate starting to seperate. I would give it a good wipe over with Autoglym Fast Glass and I bet the marks will either disappear to be greatly reduced.
 
Agree, it does not look like delamination. Loos more like the overspray you get if you leave proofing agent on the glass to dry in the sun. Try using some car polish (or toothpaste) and gently rub over, should remove it...
 
Not used it myself but if the autoglym products don't shift the marks, friends of mine have used Ceri-Glass and have managed to remove some relatively noticeable marks, so that might be worth a go.

Excellent news! Now you can stop checking the rear window for marks so much when driving and avoid hitting old Rovers that stop suddenly in fron of you. :lol:

The cynic in me is now thinking of Microsoft though. :cry: Sell you one product to fix something then sell you another to fix the fix. :o :roll:
