You say you have got your springs 'done' is that completely replaced or just checked by the dealer?

They have been replaced the noise was still there mind as soon as i drove it out of the garage

Not an expert on anything 'axle' related but there are a number of runbber mounted bushes in the rear axle setup any of which could have failed causing the noise. Up on a lift - wheels of and a thorough check I think.

Can you advise
How long ago this started?
At what mileage did it start?
What is the mileage now?
Does it occur at all times or only at certain ambient temperatures - think about this one before answering as it is important?
Does is go away for a few miles if you jack the rear wheels up together, then lower them, only to reappear a few miles later?
Does it drive you mad - akin to Chinese water torture? OK this one isn't so important to answer but I know how you feel.

Hi
it started soon after i had it at 69,000 milage now is 72000 it occurs mainly at low speeds

it happens at most temps as was noticable in summer and winter

was still there as soon as i had the springs changed so the jacking up didnt make it go away

it is driving me crazy lol

could be one of the metal "paws" that hold the exhaust muffler in place. Had similar on mine, the noise was also evident on fast acceleration... :)

If it occurs when you go over a change of road surface at very low speeds, I doubt it is the exhaust "paws".

I am pretty sure it is suspension related and yes, I can imagine it will drive you insane.

I am sure that if you check all the suspension joints, you will not find any play, otherwise there would be a more consistant knock.

I hate to say this but I think nothing short of dropping the rear suspension and checking all joints for corrosion/wear will fix this.

You will be told it is dampers or damper bushes, I don't think it is, otherwise it would be there most of the time, not just small changes in road surface. It's as if there is something sticking and then releasing once the force builds up but it doesn't stick if the force is greater.

I assume, you have irradicated loos brake pads?

Hi Guys, I had the same problem for 3 weeks! Finally I found how to fix it! Note that you need to check it when the hood is up. There are two rather small flaps at both sides of the compartment that the roof will be folded in. Each flap has a spring behind it to keeps it in place. In my case, the flap needed to be pushed to click to the pivot and to make sure the spring is positioned riht in the slot behind the flap. Hope it helps.

Just posted something on this then found this thread. have you any pics of this flap spring thing? I am now wondering if it is a loose brake pad also.

If it's a roadster, could it be the roof motor's bracket rusted and broke, now the motor is rattling in place. Have read about this in another post from Shipkiller.

Now I have read this post, I fear that is exactly what it sounds like. Any idea how to check for this. Ive looked for the thread by shipkiller and cant see it
