rear parking sensors not working

After nearly hitting something very hard I realise the sensors aren't doing anything No beep no buzz no nothing dead The reversing lights still come on when in reverse but everything else does diddly squat Any body out there with any ideas Would a carly investigation tell me what's wrong?

Any help would be great

Does it do a long beep when you put the car in reverse?
Can you hear all the sensors making the sonic ticking when in reverse?
If you can't hear one of them that tells you which one needs replacing. I had this problem on my coupe and just ordered the part on ebay, and got a local garage to fit it for me, and problem was solved with parking sensors working perfectly again.

Just some thoughts. Is the speaker working that makes the noise? Have you tried swapping out the PDC for another used one (can be had from ebay for about 20 quid)

There is no vibration on any of the sensors so I guess that the PDC could be goosed Will try and get a replacement from ebay and see what happens

swapped the pdc control unit in the boot and now have clicking from all 4 sensors but not a beep from the speaker Removed the speaker from the footwell under the steering wheel Is there a way to test the speaker to see if it's dead

Plug a code reader in and check live data.
A creator c310+ is about £50. You’ll need someone to help while reading the data streams. Get them to walk up to each sensor holding a board. They kick in when 2m away and should move up and down accordingly.
I had 2 faulty ones when I got the car. One was dead and one detected and stuck straight to 0 even when you walked away.
You can also test with esta and inpa if you know anyone with the bmw diags.

my car did do the long beep like you mentioned when I put it into reverse, but now doesn't do that. Do you know what the problem might be?

If there is no longer a long beep, and you can't hear the sensors ticking when listening to them. I would put money on it being the module itself now. And you could possibly have a dead sensor too if it initially did the long beep.

Get a code reader. The creator c310+ is £50. You can read live data and test the sensors by having someone hold a plank of wood and approach each sensor individually.
I had 2 faulty ones (1 permanently on and 1 that stuck and didn’t release). I’d never have found that fault by the listening method.

Code reader is the way forwards, plug it in (I bought a Creator C410) and do the testing it will get you an answer in a couple of minutes. And you will have a great diagnostic tool to keep in the car.

Problem solved got a new to me PDC module from best parts on fleabay plugged it in and hey presto the beep returned initially only to stop doing it's thing after a couple of days Did the hearing check ear up against each of the sensors and the nearside sensor was making a weird moaning sound Thought here we go again but after a quick search through previous posts on the forum decided to use the magic fluid trick, WD40, sprayed it on the sensor wiped off the excess and Happy days it's working as normal
