Rear lights on with DRLs?

Normally in daylight front DRLs come on their own but noticed today that the tail lights are on also. Which means basically that I am driving around with my side lights on?

My 1 series is like that, but noticed the new 3 series only the fronts are on.

I'm guessing the new law re DRLs says only fronts required so that's what manufacturers are doing now.

Not certain, but think that before the software upgrade it was just the fronts.
I don't want the rears on in daylight it could confuse and limit the impact of the brake lights

Are the brake lights the same as the til light though?

If I recall correctly if you have auto lights the rear lights are on with the DRL's

Correct, auto lights will obviously put front and rears on. Drl's also put rears on with front halos.

This however is about to change as new eu regs mean cars made from a certain date (sometime soon if not already) will show front drl's on only and rears will be off.

It became law in Feb 2011 but only to cars that gained EU approval from that date so many still don't require them.

even in the off position, ignoring the auto lights, the tails come on as well with the drls selected in the menu

anybody without the software update confirm this happens as i seem to recall only the fronts before i had the update
