Hi all

Just doing the rounds before MOT (Friday) and I noticed that the nearside rear tail lights are dimmer than the offside

Not sure if there is a tolerance on MOT light brightness at all?

Anyone got experience of this at all- would it be a bad earth somewhere, or just rubbish bulbs (they looked a bit old/cloudy when I popped them out

All other lights like indicators and brake lights are fine

TIA

Stuart

Swap sides and compare?

Apparently it’s a bit of a grey area, both sides should be the same brightness but if they are both visible then it can pass.
As said swap the bulbs and check the earth point and connections

It can be down to one new bulb and one old one, different manufacturers etc.
They do recommend to replace bulbs in pairs.

Personally it would affect my OCD :|

Quite, so I would swap and see if the fault follows. If it does then a new pair, if not then it's not the bulbs :)

Check on both rear bulbs and should have the wattage on it as well as voltage . Someone may have fitted a 24v or lower wattage bulb in there.
