Rear Light Indicator Strip

I've noticed that on my LHS rear light, the indicator strip at the bottom has a small section that's not lighting up.

Does anybody know if the indicator strip consists of several bulbs and I need to replace one? Or is it a brand new rear light required?

Thanks!

Indicators on rear clusters are LED and not user serviceable. New unit/entire cluster required unless you fancy breaking it all apart and spending hours trying to get parts from Japan.

Likely failed due to water ingress.

Thanks for the swift response, I will contact the dealer as it's still within BMW AUC warranty. Hopefully they will replace the complete unit.

Rear light LED indicators are prone to flooding and malfunction owing to poor internal seals. The water collects in the lower section - which is the LED indicator section. My offside unit failed and I was quoted £300 to replace by a BMW specialist. More from my Coopers dealership. In the end I drilled a tiny drainage hole from the open trunk/boot sidewall (so it's invisible) into the LED section of the light cluster. To my amazement around a quarter to half a pint of water drained out. Since then no probs! As the car corners the light unit drains of any water that has leaked through the seal. Free and simple fix!

Wizz idea.

Simple fix until mould starts to form. Replacements can be had for £140. Just buy, seal and replace yourself.

Pop em off the car, put them on the radiator overnight and seal with a high grade all weather translucent sealant then replace. Make sure you pull the seal through the boot aperture and clip the lip over correctly.

Are you saying once the water has drained the indicators start working again?

Or is this pre-emptive?

Mine has three LEDs out on the driver side.
