Hi I need help with my Z4, it's currently got an issue with the microswitch however I'm unable to change it. I've managed to get the boot open however it isn't going into service position. Does anyone know how to manually open the roof
Thanks

Welcome to the forum, I presume it an E89?
There are several posts on here regarding roof problems, try using the search function with a few key words, basically to manually raise the roof you need to open a screw (only 1/2 turn, if I remember correctly)on the pump to relieve the hydraulic pressure, then you need a special tool (a long bar with an Allen key end) to undo the locks and then the rear shell can be lifted evenly from both sides.
Alternatively I believe a wire or two can be jumped on the convertible roof module, using the working micro switch to trick the car that both are working.
Good luck.

got an issue with the microswitch...
Which one? If on the rear roof shell2, never touch it as it is aways ok.

The trunk can be opened with a good tester like Foxwell, INPA, Gutmann, ...

Hi robbi it's this microswitch 54377228585. I can get the trunk open however I need it open in the other position to access the microswitch.

When that microswitch failed in my car, it first went intermittent. You may want to drive the car around for a few days and frequently press the roof button. It may start temporarily working.

Another option, if top is up and trunk empty, you can access the CTM connector and jumper in a replacement switch. It would be pins 9 and 22.

This is a maybe... The switch you mention is the left rear module closed. There is also a right rear module closed microswitch. The CTM pin for left module is 9 and the CTM pin for right module is 11. You could try jumping the 2 wires.

If the roof is currently stored in the boot, drive around for a few days to see if it starts working. As you can tell, I'm pretty lazy.

PS Replace both lefty and right microswitches.
