Rear fog bulb blown.

My rear fog light has blown so decided to go to Halfords today to get a new one.

So I began by removing the cover from inside the boot, and then realised I cant get access to it due to a metal frame being in the way.

So took out my manual and it told me its one of 3 bulbs in the rear lights that you must get done by a bmw.

Has anyone managed to replace one, if so how did you manage it.

You have to remove the light unit from it's mounting and actually take it out. 3 screws IIRC, then you need to fiddle about with the position with them finger tight when you put it back on. Did it ages ago when I though I had a blown fog light. And didn't.

Remember you only have one rear fog light on the driver side. On the facelift the other one is part of the brake force lighting system and only lights up under very hard braking (with the fog light light) as additional warning to drivers behind you. I think it is activated when the ABS kicks in, not sure. But Defo not a fog light.

Edit - looked at when you joined, you probably know about my second para
