Rear ended Thursday afternoon.

So, the rotten luck continues. Rear ended this afternoon on an Essex road not far from Chelmsford. Turning right, indicating well before turning. At crown of road waiting for oncoming to clear. Lady in a 4x4 stationary behind me. Then bang, she was rear ended into me, I shot off right, she shot off left, the rear ender ended up ahead of both of us, airbag deployed.

The good news? I wasn't in the Z.

The VAG doesn't look well, rear hatch stoved in, bumper smashed, exhaust raspberrying, near side rear quarter bowed out and rippled in 3 places, rear n/s door warped, front pax door also affected Maybe chassis pushed out of kilter?

Be interesting to see what happens, but it ain't going anywhere near UK Assist after the last fcuk up they made on the Z. Will insist on VAG repair.

At least no one died or was crippled. But could really do without it. I understand the rear ender passed test about 8 weeks ago.
 
Firstly as you say nobody injured - and that's what really counts.

That said such feel for you, just the hassle, paperwork, loss of money, etc. :thumbsdown:
 
If she didn't have her hand-brake on, then the women in the 4x4 is going to be wishing she did now. Have heard of it happening that the original rear-ender only pays for the one they hit, then subsequently the responsibility is passed on down the chain.

Main thing though is nobody is hurt.
 
Nasty...your VAG sounds to be in a bit of a mess - glad it wasn't the Zed, and very glad no one was hurt!
 
I do wonder how we would have faired in the Z, sitting so close to the rear.
 
Sounds like it was a pretty massive impact to have pushed a 4x4 forward hard enough to have caused such damage to you, and still to have stopped in front of you both. What kind of vehicle was it, and do you know how fast it was travelling?
 
Just glad that you are ok, just think how bad it could have been
 
Petach... Just not your year with cars, :( As already said no one crippled or died, But the hassle now faced for some elses F**k up is a major pain in the butt. :headbang: :headbang:

Sorry to hear it, seams people everywhere don't know to stop so they can see the rear wheels of the car before them. :headbang: when will they learn I hate it if they stop within inches behind me on the traffic light or stop signs. I like to go out and tell them to back off, only I know the car behind them is proberly as close as they are to me :lol:

Glad nobody's injured Petach, sounds like a decent impact if it was enough to push both your and the 4x4 behind you out of the way :o

Not a chance of that! And I know first hand from experience... My dad and I collected a new car for my mum. We decided to take it for a drive direct from the garage to ensure it was all OK, my dad driving (this is important!). Approaching junction with lights at red and two cars waiting, we drive straight into the back of the two stationary cars. Turns out my dad - bless him - had hit the clutch rest with his left foot (instead of the clutch) and the clutch with his right foot (instead of the brake), so we happily coasted into the back of the two cars. The pedals were offset, well that's his excuse. The first car we hit ran forward into the back of the front car as their handbrake wasn't on, my dad's insurance paid out for repairs to all three vehicles involved. And the best part: my mum hadn't even seen her new car yet, so we rolled up outside they house with both headlights smashed, front bumper mangled, wings creased and bonnet bent! 12 miles on the clock too. Hopefully that will raise a laugh with you Petach as it sounds like you need the laughs :(
 
yes - good to hear you are ok. The knock for knock certainly works that way in traffic jams as they state that you did not keep enough distance ...

Can you now change the thread title to "yesterday afternoon" please? :D
